Oakland native Meres-Sia Gabriel has had the honor to speak and perform at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Universidad de la Tierra in Chiapas, EDELO Cultural Center in San Cristobal, San Francisco Museum of the African Diaspora, and the de Young Museum of SF. She is currently featured in the Oakland Museum’s Black Power installation.
A lover of stories, Meres-Sia has ghost written for others as well as written her own mixed-genre memoir I Twirl in the Smoke. Bringing people together for the highest good and healing of their own self-expression is one of her greatest callings.
